Privacy Policy and Personal Information Protection
The confidentiality and discretion of the Juricarrière service of the Corporation de services du Barreau du Québec (hereinafter "The Corporation") are governed by this "Privacy Policy and Personal Information Protection". This policy is in compliance with the Act to modernize legislative provisions regarding the protection of personal information, LQ 2021, c 25 and describes the practices for the collection, use or disclosure of personal information within the framework of the Juricarrière service activities. These practices apply differently depending on how Juricarrière is used:
- anonymous use;
- use as a candidate;
- use as an employer;
- use as a recruitment firm;
Users have the right at all times to correct the information they have provided for their subscription to the Juricarrière service (or to correct this information themselves online) by contacting the Corporation at (514) 954-3442.

Anonymous Use
For all public access pages, the only information collected is as follows and this only for statistical purposes and with a view to improving the Juricarrière service:
- the IP address used to access this site;
- the type and version of the browser and operating system used;
- the website you came from (when you clicked on a link leading to this site).
This data allows us to see which pages are consulted, for how long and in what order. This data will be preserved indefinitely for year-over-year comparison purposes.
Use of Information Concerning a Candidate
To access the details of certain information (notably job offers), we ask you beforehand to register as a candidate using a valid email address.
For certain activities, your candidate profile must be completed at a minimum with the following information:
- last name and first name;
- email address;
The following additional (non-essential) information is requested from you:
- the type(s) of employment that interest you (for lawyers, notaries, etc.);
- the type of employment that interests you (private practice, public service, etc.);
- the geographic employment regions that interest you;
- the fields of legal practice that interest you;
- any other information requests that may be added to the site, in which case you may decide whether or not to specify them.
You may also upload your curriculum vitae in electronic format as part of an application for a position posted on the site.
Note that your application is always anonymous, unless you explicitly consent to reveal the nominal information (allowing you to be identified as a person) of your profile to a potential employer when applying for a position posted by that employer.
The collected information will be accessible at all times to the administrators of the Juricarrière service. The Services Corporation may also contact candidates by email or mail to inform them of changes, additions or modifications to the Juricarrière service. AT NO TIME are candidates' personal information shared or used by third parties or for purposes other than providing them with the functionalities available on Juricarrière.
Use of Information Concerning the Employer or a Recruitment Firm
To access the Juricarrière service as an employer, you must initially provide us with a valid email address. In the subsequent registration process we ask you for the following information:
- the company name;
- the last name, first name and gender of a contact person;
- the company address;
- the phone number.
This information is accessible at all times to the administrators, officers, employees, representatives and agents of the Juricarrière service. They are only visible to registered candidates when the employer or recruitment firm posts a job offer on the site, otherwise they are not made public. AT NO TIME is employers' information shared or used by third parties or for purposes other than providing you with the functionalities available on Juricarrière.
Employers' or recruitment firms' data may be destroyed upon request by the administrators, officers, employees, representatives and agents of the Juricarrière service, otherwise they will be saved for the period deemed relevant by the Corporation.
Use by an Employer
The employer, whether obtaining the information directly by themselves or through a recruitment firm, undertakes to keep confidential the information obtained about a candidate following an application made via the Juricarrière site and further undertakes to use this information only to fill a specific position within their organization. As soon as the position has been filled or the information about candidates is no longer useful in this regard, the employer undertakes to proceed with the complete destruction of the information obtained, regardless of whether it is on computer media or paper.
Use by a Recruitment Firm
A recruitment firm may only use the information obtained from the Juricarrière service site for the purposes of executing a mandate obtained on behalf of an employer with a view to filling a specific position in the latter's organization. A recruitment firm may not use the information obtained from the Juricarrière service site for the purposes of building a database of applications, nor for any other purpose. A recruitment firm that has obtained information about a candidate undertakes to:
- keep the information obtained confidential, except to provide it to the employer for whom it holds the mandate;
- take all necessary measures so that the employer, for whom it holds the mandate and to whom it transmits the information, undertakes to respect and actually respects the "Uses by an employer" incumbent upon them provided above;
- only use the information obtained for the sole purposes and in the manner provided above;
- destroy the information obtained as soon as the work to identify a candidate for the specific position of the employer for whom it holds the mandate is completed, whether the position has been filled or not, whether this information is on computer media or paper.
Technological Information Concerning Candidates and Employers
For candidates as well as for employers, technical information related to the HTTP protocol is also saved. These are the same information as those described above for anonymous use of the site. In addition, cookies (or tracking tokens) are used to persist authentication and the state of the web application from one visit to the next. No nominal or personal information is recorded there. Data relating to a registered user's session (employer or candidate) is stored (in an encrypted form and readable only by the application itself) in a cookie for this purpose.
User data and offers are stored on a server located in Montreal. Only administrators, officers, employees, representatives and agents authorized by the Corporation de services du Barreau du Québec have access to it. When there is a transaction involving credit card purchases, the information between your browser and the Juricarrière service server is secured via TLS 3.0 encryption technology at 128 bits. Credit card numbers are not saved in the system and must be provided for each transaction.
